Meelpomene is a Brussels-based visual artist whose name nods to Melpomene, the muse of tragedy traditionally depicted with a mask. For 10+ years she has created her own “masks”, which are fully formed characters to experiment with visuals and bring other personas to life. Drawing from endless references (cinema, drag, monsters, and fashion) she builds self-curated moodboards to distill them into a single character.

Alongside creating content for her drag portfolio, she paints, draws and has worked as a professional make-up artist for fashion shoots and public/private events. She studied painting, image & cinema, and make-up, and is currently in the multidisciplinary atelier at École des Arts d’Anderlecht.

What she does ?

• Creative make-up & face/body painting for editorial, fashion, performance, and events
• Character design & look development (from reference moodboards to final execution)
• Drawing/painting for artwork, prints, and project visuals

Recent collaborations include the Fashion Museum of Antwerp (MoMu), the Art et Marges Musée and other Brussels museums, as well as independent artists and performers.

Based in Brussels but available worldwide.
